Walking – there are over 70 miles of way marked trails
on Exmoor. Nearby highlights include the wilds of Longstone ( ancient
standing stone high on the moor ), Pinkworthy Pond, the Doone Valley
and Heddons Mouth.
Beaches – North Devon has some of the most spectacular
coastline in Europe. There are impressive cliffs, small coves and
huge sandy beaches at Woolacombe, Saunton and Croyde, with good
surfing too!
Golf – Saunton Sands, Barnstaple and Ilfracombe are
nearest.
Sightseeing – West Somerset railway – 20 miles
of restored steam branch line running from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard.
Lynmouth – Water powered cliff railway, coastal and
sea fishing trips. Glen Lyn Gorge. The Valley of the Rocks. Cinema.
Horse drawn tours – Moorland trips by Shire horse
pulled wagon.
National Trust – Arlington Court, Holnicote Estate
and Dunster Castle all nearby.
Pony Trekking – several stables nearby.
Lundy Island – day trips from Bideford and Ilfracombe.
Barnstaple – regional centre with good shopping, pannier
market and “butchers row”. Brannams pottery. Broomhill
sculpture gardens.
Cycling – mountain bike hire in Lynton.
Children – Combe Martin Dinosaur and Wildlife Park.

paintball.
Fishing
– brown and rainbow trout fishing at Wistlandpound reservoir.
We can arrange fishing on our own stretch of the River Taw for
salmon and sea trout.
