The cottage is only a couple of minutes walk away from The River Taw – one of the best Salmon and Sea Trout rivers in the West Country. The village of Umberleigh is a short walk away and has an excellent pub, tea rooms, railway station and post office. Both the regional centre of Barnstaple and the market town of South Molton are about 7 miles away.

This part of North Devon is renowned for its fertile soils and gentle rolling valleys. It is an area of ever changing scenes – lambs in spring, ancient woodlands steams and fast running rivers, golden crops in the autumn.

To the north lies Exmoor National Park with its wild and desolate moorland as well as steep sheltered valleys. The moors literally run into the sea with the high cliffs and smugglers coves – a trip to one of the small harbour village is well worth it.
